"I can't believe how naive I was to think things could ever be so simple. If this is the one chance that really matters, don't let me f*ck this up. If you had told me about all this when I was fifteen, I never would have believed it."

About Me

I am an Series 7 licensed Trust Investment Officer with a large financial firm Florida. I handle the day to day management of a 125 million dollar mutual fund program for assets held in trust, and coordinate the implentation of individual asset management plans.

When not slaving away at work, I'm a geek in a punk rocker's body. I actually started blogging because I built and configured my own server at home, and needed something to put on it. I geek out a lot, and my wife seems to be ok with it. I still listen to punk rock, get tattoo'd when finances allow, and enjoy a nice cigar.

I have begun a small computer consulting company on the side, and do the work when time allows. If everything works out as I'd like, I'll be an IT firm & stay-home dad. Gotta have goals, right?

I've started blogging to share my experience and insights into today's working world, and just life in general. While I am certainly not the only one out there doing this, I think I've got a pretty unique perspective on things. I'm always open to comments, questions, and some old fashioned hate mail.

And for those of you who are confused, the unusual post titles are almost always songs that I like. I'm somewhat of a music snob, and I've been listening to punk rock since I was 11 or 12. While I may wear a tie now, I haven't quite gotten on the horrible pop music bandwagon yet.

My Life

Originally born in Boston, I moved to Palm Harbor, Florida at the age of 6 with my family. Growing up, I did what every kid did. I played sports, played football for 6 years, swam competively for 15 years, had fun with all the neighborhood kids, and in the meantime managed to breeze through school with good grades. After graduation, having no idea what to do next, he took a position at a local financial firm that he had done an intership with. 3 years later, I was broke and burnt out from attempting to do everything at once.

I took a few years off to accomplish nothing, which I did rather well. I managed to get a few (ok...more than a few) large tattoos, some broken bones, and some debt to follow me for a few years. But all in all, I have no regrets about what I did and where I ended up. It gave me a few stories to tell, and it made me who I am.

I think I'm starting to get a hang of this adulthood thing, ya know? Still though, it bitch-slapped the hell out of me. It's like one of those punches that you brace for, knowing it's gonna come, but still walk away stunned as to how much it hurt.

My Family

I'm a pretty lucky guy. I'm currently married to a beautiful, smart, and very understanding woman. We have a son, Cash Joseph, who was born on August 1st 2007 and is often times the highlight of my day. I was lucky to be raised by a good set of parents, who actually taught me a thing or two about doing what's right. It took a little while for it all to sink in, but I'm eternally grateful for it.
